The 28mm lens gets ignored by many since 24mm starts to get really wide (on full frame) and 35mm is the preferred "walk-around" gentle wide angle for most users. 2006 - current. The most compact M lens Leica has ever produced. 8 elements with one being asphere. Reviews seem to indicate very high contrast with very good resolution, although perhaps not out to the edges. Some are calling this a digital design due to the edge performance on full frame. Many believe the Type IV Elmarit to be the ultimate 28mm Elmarit for all around modern performance. Demand has been VERY high for this lens due to its relative low cost brand new. In early 2007, many were selling over $ 1800, when the price new was $ 1,495. E39 filter. Designed in Solms.
