I have been a camera collector since 1992. My particular collection focuses on cameras, lenses and related photographica from the 1839-1879 period although I love all the classic cameras too, such as Rolleiflex, Zeiss, Hasselblad and Leica.
I started the AntiqueCameras.net website in 1994 and it has been consistently ranked at the top of search engines for the term "antique cameras." This site has held the # 1 position among all websites for antique cameras for 25 years ! Due to this website's popularity, I get inundated with emails asking for help with identifying and valuing cameras and lenses. This led me to offer my Camera Identification and Valuation Services as well as creating my detailed camera and lens price guides contained in this site.
In 1995, I founded the Internet Directory of Camera Collectors, "IDCC." The IDCC grew to be the world's largest on-line community of active camera collectors.
In December 2013, I published a 26 page research paper on The History of the Petzval Lens in Issue # 171 of The Journal; New England Journal of Photographic History.
I have also been an active EBAY buyer and seller as a collector since 1996, with over 2,500 positive transactions and ZERO negative transactions - something I am very proud of, since its not easy to please everyone - but I try. See here for my EBAY feedback page.
I am a current member of The Photographic Society of New England and past member of The Daguerreian Society. I also operate the Facebook Group: Antique & Classic Cameras and Lenses --> www.facebook.com/groups/AntiqueCameras/
And most recently, I was the featured expert on the TV Show, "American Pickers" and provided valuation advice to Mike Wolfe while he was picking an old camera factory. The episode aired on March 7, 2022.
